Whoever posted the rabid dogs in Oman comment is obviously not well informed. The sign at Yiti has nothing to do with rabies. This is an Islamic country & dogs are generally not well tolerated in public places. Also rabies is not a seasonal disease, so the remark "at this time or year" is rubbish. Oman is a beautiful country with a rich history , a generous, kind people & beautiful scenery. If the only comment you can make is about rabid dogs (which in 15 years of living here I've never encountered)you are missing the point about Oman & perhaps should stay away.

Dear Anonymous Friend,

Yes, the initial comment on this post is flippant, and I deeply apologize for any offense caused.

I enjoyed being in Oman a great deal. It is, indeed, a beautiful country with a fascinating and diverse history--and everyone I encountered treated me with kindness and respect. I'm grateful that I had the chance to spend time in Oman.

It also occurs to me that dogs are not allowed on beaches throughout much of Southern California, either.
