Just voted in the California primary election. I walked down the road and voted in someone's garage. It was very quiet. One of the volunteers said "they" were predicting a record low turnout. Oh dear.

we just got back from voting too. very low turnout, tho we live in a relatively politicized neighborhood. i mean, our neighbors, the surrounding community, are pretty active in getting out to vote, hanging banners in windows and on lawns etc. etc.

and downtown was filled with newstrucks and camera crews because angelides was setting up camp at the downtown hilton, right next to the convention center. we couldn't forget it was election day if we wanted to. oh, and that our phone kept ringing last night with prerecorded messages about one campaign and another. imagine the thrill to answer the phone with hello, and to hear a voice on the other end say, hello, this is jimmy smits urgin you to --blah blah blah.
