a couple days after seeing this post, I happened to pick up this huge "everyday reference library" that I've had for years but never look at. it's one of those 2000 page books written in the 50s (probably) that has info on how to farm, how to sew, how to raise chickens, how to type, etc. practical things. and I happened to open to a section on various kinds of shorthand and abbreviated ways to take notes, and some of it looked a bit like this piece. ways of writing words in two pen strokes.
