There are a lot of things we like about being out here, but one thing that's been shocking--not becuase I didn't expect it, but because I've just never experienced it before--is the ways in which suburban life is literally structured to make its inhabitants feel and act certain ways. Whenever I'm confused about the world politically, I always go back to Debord. I would point out that Debord & company did not only try and live in a way that negated the spectacle's 'visible negation of life' within their own daily lives but also sought to actively restructure the society-- if there's a dichotomy in this conversation perhaps it's internal/external & I'd say it's both-- one _&_ the other not _or_.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13388361.post-1138763610334749202006-01-31T19:13:00.000-08:002006-01-31T19:13:00.000-08:00lorraine you may find this of interest. i had it s...lorraine you may find this of interest. i had it saved as a draft while i posted other things so it ended up being buried under all the more recent stuff when i finally did post it.

still learning,
t.tmorangehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13540323590390887131noreply@blogger.com
